What we do
CCC campaigns to get more people cycling, better facilities for them and more members to support the campaign
Activities and aims of CCC
Like our parent organisation, LCC, our main aim is to get more people cycling so that they can enjoy the many benefits including better health, reducing the time spent travelling and enjoyment. More cycling means less pollution and congestion.
CCC works towards this aim in a variety of ways:
- working for a better cycling environment
- liaison with Camden council to plan better cycling facilities in the borough
- scrutinising and responding to numerous traffic management proposals
- pushing for cycle facilities in new developments such as Kings Cross railway lands
- participating in the planning of LCN+
- providing a service to its existing 600 members
- monthly meetings and bi-monthly newsletters
- over 100 CCC members discuss all aspects of cycling in Camden via the mailing list
- organising rides
- promote public awareness of the campaign
- putting on events such as bike breakfasts
- attempting to recruit new members
- writing to the press
- improving our image
- new cyclists - cycle mentoring scheme
- cycle storage at home and at work
- who does this work?
- the management committee and volunteers
- the committee does its work via email and at monthly meetings held before the members meetings
- more volunteers are always needed
