Results
The demo on 14th November is proving to have been very worthwhile. We had made demands relating to taking your bike on the Eurostar with you, cycle parking at St Pancras International, cycle link to Route 0 and cyclist safety around the station.
Cycle Carriage
Since 7th April 2008, you have been able to take Bikes on Eurostar with you for travel between London and Paris and London and Brussels as described on the Eurostar website. They are still working on the London - Lille trip - currently you can take the bike with you on the way out, but not on return.
Cycle Parking
Since the day of the demo there has been parking for 100 bikes in a rather inaccessible position in the NCP Car Park. Originally cyclists entered the same way as cars, but when the Car Park stopped being Pay and Display NCP put up barriers. After a pedestrian and a cyclist had been hit by the barrier, cyclists were told they couldn't use that way in.
The official route in is via the Coach Road but we're still urging NCP to put up signs. They promise (April 2008) that this will be done soon.
Link to SSL
This is described in Missing link. Camden Council signed the link in both directions in March 2008 and promises to make the other improvements in Summer 2008.
Safety in Roads around the stations
Feb 2008, Camden Council commissioned a safety audit to address safety issues around the station. The audit was published in April 2008.
Outstanding Issues
We're still struggling with a multitude of issues including
- implementation of recommendations of safety audit;
- signage to new cycle parking in the Car Park
- total absence of cycle parking in the streets outside the station.
