Please give your general views on the concept of a cycle route along the route shown on the enclosed plan (positive and/or negative)?

We strongly support the upgrading of cycle facilities along Link 237.

What do you consider the main advantages and uses of the cycle route would be, in general / for any organization that you represent?

Many Camden cyclists ride in this area, in particular using the toucan crossings over Hyde Park corner, and would benefit from any improvements.

What do you consider the main problems and disadvantages of the cycle route would be, in general / for any organization that you represent?

Existing problems which need to be resolved include: (i) capacity problems at the Hyde Park Corner toucan crossings; (ii) signal phasing at Hyde Park Corner obliging cyclists to wait at each signal in turn - in particular, the two eastern-most lights should be synchronized for east-bound cyclists; (iii) safety problem at Hyde Park Corner with the eastern-most traffic lane; (iv) capacity and pedestrian conflict problems on the narrow park paths (Rotten Row and Green Park); (iv) getting to and from the Green Park cycle path from the eastern end of Constitution Hill; (v) safety of cyclists movements around the Queen Victoria Memorial.

The proposed route west of Hyde Park Corner would take cyclists along busy and congested roads. We are skeptical about the likelihood of these roads being made sufficiently cycle-friendly given Westminster City Council's attitude as revealed in previously issued guidance on LCN+ schemes. The alternative routes seem much more promising, but why are they shown reverting to the main road route at Alexandra Gate when they could continue westward into Kensington Gardens?

What future input (if any) would you like to have to this cycle route study? If you would, please add your contact details at the bottom of this form.

We would like to take part in the CRIM, availability allowing, and participate in the further investigation of this Link.

Please tick a box/boxes to indicate whether you use the route.

As both cyclist and pedestrian.
