Mentoring
Thinking of cycling to work? or to the shops, library, school . . . ? Need to know the best routes? Camden Cycling Campaign can help!
Meade McCloughan has decided to step down from running our mentoring scheme after a very long seven year stint. The scheme is on hold until we can find a replacement. If you might consider running the scheme, please contact Jean Dollimore - we can offer training for anyone who does take over
Our volunteer cycle mentors are ready to accompany you on rides along the best routes in Camden, sharing with you route knowledge and road-craft. Once you get started, it'll be hard to stop!
We currently have only three mentors remaining from the original scheme.
The main routes we used to offer (with return journeys as well!) are (to be amended if we get a volunteer to run the scheme):
- Kilburn to Bloomsbury
- Kilburn to the West End
- Kilburn to King's Cross
- Swiss Cottage/Kilburn to Victoria
- Swiss Cottage/Kilburn to Grays Inn Road
- Fortune Green to Aldwych
- Belsize Park to the West End
- West Hamptead/Cricklewood to anywhere
- Primrose Hill to anywhere
- Kentish Town to Bloomsbury
- Gospel Oak to King's Cross
- Gospel Oak to Clerkenwell
- Camden Town to West Hampstead
- Chalk Farm to West Hamptead
- Highgate to Marylebone
If you don't see exactly what you want, don't worry! We will consider any requests that are made.
Summary of mentoring activities
Meade McCloughan wrote a report on the first four years Report on mentoring (2005) and has summarised recent activities as follows: The only mentors have been myself, Stefano, Lionel and now John as well. I've done at least two lots of mentoring since September 2005, and I know John and Stefano have had at least one mentee since then too.Last modified 18-Apr-2008 12:14
