Notes on WCRSAG Meeting 22 Nov 2005
Baynes Street; 29 bus to be bendy; LIP; police and pavement cycling; Safety Audits; car parking vs contraflow cycling;Regis Road/Arctic Street
Chaired by Julian Fulbrook as Gerry Harrison is in Ireland.
Doug Amer's announcements covered the latest on Baynes Street (very little); the 29 bus is to be a bendy bus; LB Camden has almost submitted their LIP; the police initiative on pavement cycling successfully deployed the leaflet designed by CCC, Camden Council and police; some clarifications on Safety Audits.
CCC wanted to present a paper about delays to cyclists at lights on Parkway/Gloucester Avenu/Delancey Steet junction. But JD agreed to take the discussion outside this meeting.
CCC also attempted to make a case that the demands of Car Parking were detrimental to the introduction of contraflow cycling facilities. (The Cycle Plan had failed to find any to implement in 2005-6). Doug Amer petty well confirmed this was the case. You can't get alteration of parking schemes through consultations (e.g. move parking to the other side of the road in the middle section of Marchmont Street).
