Once again, on 21st November 2006, the Bob Spellar from Hampstead Parochial school has organised a children's cycle ride to the schools. Children from both independent and state primary schools gathered at the flower stand at the entrance of College Crescent.

They met a team from the BBC who are preparing a documentary on transport. After singing a song (prompted by the BBC) the children and several parents got on their bikes and cycled up the hill towards their different schools. Many thanks to the ever obliging cycle police officers that helped to control the traffic.

We were happy to see Councillor Alexis Rowell on the ride. Can he help us get the cycle lanes that the parents and children are demanding to make this ride a daily trip?

The wave of children cycling up the hill brought a few moments of serenity and peace to the Fitzjohn's avenue normally an ugly site of back to back cars pouring out noxious gases.

The children from Bob' school had to tackle the final hurdle before reaching their school: a Tesco track that every morining parks on double yellow lines causing a dangerous obstacle to cyclists.

Not a good lesson to the children about respecting the law!
