Families ride on Hampstead Heath
We assembled in the car park at East Heath Road. James led us off and Stefano brought up the rear with his passenger in the Christiana. We were pleased to see Bob and the parents and children from Hampstead Parochial.

Although it had rained all the orevious day and drizzled a bit that morning, we were lucky with the weather. Most had waterproofs but soon peeled them off as the went up the hill.

We followed the cycleway between the ponds, up the slope and then through the woods to the sports ground.

Many of the children were new riders, but all managed their bikes with great style and coped well with the rough paths.

We crossed over Lime Avenue and continued up the hill to Viaduct Pond where we stopped for breath.

Then we did the big climb up the rough track to the end of the path on Spaniards Road - quite a challenge for the young riders and for some others too. Stefano brought up the rear with his young charge in the Christiana.

We crossed Spaniards Road and walked down the hill and through the meadow over Sandy Heath. We then crossed North End Way and rode on the Cycleway on Sandy Road. We walked back up the hill to Jack Straws.
To complete our ride, we went back down the Cycleway, turning left and over to Highgate. We had parted with about half the riders at Jack Straws and more in Millfield Lane. The remaining four went for lunch in Cafe Mozart.
